The objective was to determine the mortality of the insects at different life stages, including both adults and nestlings, as well as the percentage of eggs hatched after exposure to steam.
Summary of the Study
The test involved the use of the BugsBuster on bed bug specimens placed in Petri dishes containing cloth with seams, which were designed to simulate typical nesting conditions in domestic environments. The applications were conducted with two distinct machine movement speeds (5 cm/s and 10 cm/s) and at three different distances from the insects (3 cm, 5 cm, and 10 cm). The comprehensive methodology included five replicates for each condition, ensuring a meticulous and precise analysis.
Conclusions of the Study
The results showed that BugsBuster is highly effective in eliminating bed bugs. Insect mortality was 100% for both life stages (adults and nymphs) under the conditions tested and, in addition, none of the eggs in the capsules hatched after the application of steam, confirming the total effectiveness of the treatment.
